The National Initiative for Agricultural Development was launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of the King of Bahrain, in March 2010. As the President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, Her Royal Highness chairs the Consultative Council of distinguished officials from the public sector, chief executive officers of the private sector and representatives of the concerned civil society organizations.
What is The Initiative?

The initiative focuses mainly on protecting and developing the agricultural industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain; in addition to; creating a balance between agricultural and developed lands, with the belief that such measures are vital for the overall health of the population and the future of food security. Bahrain has to move towards achieving some level of self-sufficiency that will naturally lead to the increase of the contribution of the agricultural sector to the gross domestic product.
